02 Aug Resources and Updates
After I wrote my book about postpartum recovery and exercise, Healthy and Quick and Everything Fit, I received an outpouring of interest and support from physical therapists around the world. Together, we formed the Postpartum Special Interest Group (PPSIG) in the Pelvic Health Section of the American Physical Therapy Association. The PPSIG has been hard at work advocating for mothers, publishing research, and communicating with other medical providers to truly make a change for mothers everywhere. This summer, the APTA-supported “Optimizing Postpartum Outcomes Act” (H.R. 8181) is going before Congress as a bipartisan bill.
At the same time, the fitness industry now includes postpartum programs on popular platforms like Peloton (Robin’s Prenatal & Postnatal Class Series) and Beachbody on Demand (Pre & Post Natal Barre Blend). Those weren’t available five years ago when I wrote my book, and I am so thrilled that they are options today! My personal favorite program for maintaining fitness after completing a postpartum program is the Align program with Pilates instructor Bailey Brown. She will turn your home gym/workout space into a personal Pilates studio.
As for me, I am continuing to write, but now for children! If you are interested, you can visit my author website here.
Thank you for being on this journey with me, and I wish you and your family all the best!
